| Hooray!
Xanga just added a new video feature, so I can finally upload my China videos! I also FINALLY got around to sorting through the rest of my 2000 pictures and put up my favorites from XinJiang Province, the last place I went in China before I returned to the USA. You will find these in the albums "Tian Shan", "Kashgar", "Karakoram Highway", "Karakul Lake", and "Taxkorgan". Introduction: XinJiang is China's largest province, and it's most extreme. It has the 2nd lowest spot on earth, one of the largest deserts, and some of the highest mountains in the world. It is the farthest west part of China. Many ethnic minorities live there. I met Kazaks, Tajiks, Kyrgyz, Uhygur, and Pakistani people. XinJiang borders Tibet, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Russia, and Mongolia. Cindy and I travelled to Northern XinJiang province to the heavenly mountains. After that we went all the way out to Kashgar, a town closer to Baghdad than Beijing. We traveled out of Kashgar along part of the silk road, the 150km to Taxkorgan, the last town in China before you hit Pakistan. This was my favorite part of the trip I have decided, and if and when I go back to China, I want to spend more time in XinJiang. |
